A brief history The Music Masters was founded in 1983 by myself, Bill Strain, because of my love for all types of music and sound equipment. At an early age, I remember the only thing that kept my interest was playing my parents records on their console stereo. It kept me busy for hours back then and my fascination for music and the technology behind it has never faded. Growing up in the 70's I remember hanging out at the local disco Sunday afternoons and being fascinated by the DJ mixing the hits on an incredible sound system. I was determined to not only play music like him, but know how everything worked. After all, playing with the equipment was part of the fun. With the money I earned working part time after school it seemed like all I bought was records and stereo equipment to play music while hanging with friends. In college I got a job at Radio Shack and thought I had gone to a musical wonderland. I worked full time in between classes and continued to build my music library and spend money on the latest electronic toys. After graduation I had the opportunity to become a Radio Shack store manager but wanted to do more. It was then that I put my experience to work and opened a retail store. My dream had come true. I could run my own place and call the shots. I sold a variety of electronics with the emphasis on car audio and DJ gear. During the weekends I played music at local clubs and private parties. I soon met my wife Linette when she came into the store wanting to buy equipment and become a professional DJ herself. She had worked since high school at a record store and also played at her college radio station and wanted to carry her love for music to the next level. I was fascinated that she knew the artist and song title of almost any hit from years ago till now. I asked if she would like to DJ a wedding with me, she said yes and the rest is history. Over the years the retail store grew to be one of the largest distributors of professional DJ equipment in the northeast. However, as demands for my time increased, something had to give. In August of 2001, I sold the store so we could devote our time to what we truly enjoy, our DJ entertainment and videography business.
Today The Music Masters continue to DJ at all types of venues and offer the best value in any category. We cannot say we specialize in any particular function because we have so much fun doing it all. Every week we get excited getting ready for the weekends festivities. Depending on the time of year during a typical week we could deliver a few rental systems, do karaoke at a birthday party, host a video dance party at a college, or set the mood for a romantic and memorable wedding. The variety is great and we are always interested in new ideas. We are proud to be a single operator and that is a big advantage when using our services. You get the full attention of an experienced team and feel like you've known us long before your party. You will not get someone we don't know sent at random. But, unfortunately, it also means that on some dates we just have to say no. If you have waited too long to book an event and can't find anyone you're looking for, consider renting some equipment. It's inexpensive, safe, easy, and fun! We can even deliver everything, show you how it works, and pick it up! It doesn't get much easier than that!
